Meet the QuestGates Property team
Management Team (Alphabetical order)
Simon Jones
LLB (Hons) ACILA
Simon joined QuestGates in 2008 with responsibility for the development of the company's Lloyd's and London market business. With over 15 years experience, he was Operations Director for Carmichaels, where he was responsible for several Commercial and HNW accounts. Prior to that he worked for McLarens/Teceris, where his adjusting experience included exposure to Complex and Major losses, coupled with operational and account management.
Greg Laker
ACII, ACILA
A Main Board Director, Greg has over 20 years Property adjusting and management experience. He has been responsible for developing bespoke solutions for a number of our property clients, including the set up and management of our dedicated technical administration centre in Bolton, which provides claims reception and quality control across all our key property accounts.
Ross Macpherson
ACII, FCILA
A Main Board Director, Ross commenced his career with an Insurer before entering loss adjusting over 20 years ago. He has strong technical knowledge in both Commercial and Personal Lines arenas, and is responsible for delivering compliance and technical best practise within our Property Division.
Brian Polley
MA (Oxon), FCII,FCILA
Brian has over 30 years adjusting experience, encompassing senior roles in two major adjusting practices. His background is primarily in Major and Complex losses, although his responsibilities have developed into relationship management, technical best practise, compliance and product development.

Clive Bishop
MRICS
Clive is our Senior Surveyor. He is a Quantity Surveyor with over 20 years in loss adjusting. Experienced in all aspects of building losses, but particularly historic and listed buildings, buildings defects and subsidence, Clive also has extensive Major Loss knowledge and experience, developed in major practises.
Norman Cobley
BSc(Hons), CEng, MIMechE, MIE
A consultant to QuestGates, Norman Cobley is a hugely experienced Chartered Engineer. Following an initial career in the field of statutory regulation of steam plant, Norman became a marine engineer and gained an honours degree in Engineering Science. Norman then moved into the insurance field, since when he has undertaken worldwide assignments covering the investigation of losses and damage involving a very wide range of plant, including power generation, boilers and pressure vessels, furnaces, turbines, filtration systems, hydroelectric and water treatment plant, fuel handling equipment, electric motors and mining plant.
Andrew Collins
ACII, ACILA, ICIOB, BDMA, Ins Tech
Andrew has over twenty years' property adjusting experience and is a Chartered Loss Adjuster and Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He spent over thirteen years' at McLarens/Capita and more recently as a senior adjuster at Crawfords. His career has also included spells at high profile brokers dealing with claim presentation for commercial clients. Andrew's experience includes handling higher value/complex commercial and HNW claims.
Neil Cumming
ACII FCILA FUEDI-ELAE
With over 30 years adjusting experience, Neil has wide commercial and personal lines claims knowledge, and particular experience of managing broker/insurer schemes.He joined QuestGates in 2004.
Michael Dawes
Michael graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and joined AXA as a claims handler in 2002 dealing with Commercial Claims. He joined the Co-Operative in 2006 following which he worked for Primary General Insurance dealing with Commercial Property Claims. Michael is part of the Property Technical Team ensuring adjusters' compliance with reaching KPI's and assisting in assuring quality control. Michael Joined QuestGates in August 2010.
Terry Diamond
ACII, ACILA, MioR
Terry has over 20 years experience as a Property loss adjuster. He joined QuestGates in 2009 from GAB Robins and has dealt with a wide range of Complex Domestic, High Net Worth and Commercial claims both in the UK and abroad, particularly hurricane claims in the Caribbean.
Neil Duncanson
ACII, FCILA, ICIOB, Dip HI
Neil has over 20 years Loss Adjusting experience gained with major loss adjusting companies, predominately dealing with building related losses.He joined QuestGates in August 2010.

Clare English
With an insurance company background, Clare has over 10 years loss adjusting experience specialising in the HNW and property owners areas. Clare is a senior property case manager within our national service centre, responsible for client liaison and technical reporting.
Robin Erhlich
CII
Robin has worked in the insurance industry for nearly 10 years and has worked for both GAB Robins and Cunningham Lindsey. He has particular experience in Mid and High Net Worth, Property Owners and general Commercial work. He is currently working towards completion of his professional qualifications.
Chris Griffiths
ACII
Chris has nearly 20 years of adjusting experience and has worked for a number of the major adjusting companies. He has also been part of disaster teams dealing with surge situations across the UK over the past 12 years.
David Harrison
ACII
David has over 20 years experience in the loss adjusting arena, dealing with a variety of commercial and technical personal lines claims. David is a particular specialist in the property owner’s field and looks after several nominations in the north west of England.
Phil Harrison
BA (JT Hons) ACII
Phil began his career with Legal & General before gaining 12 years wide-ranging experience as commercial and personal lines loss adjuster with Miller Fisher. He joined QuestGates in 2003 from McLarens/Capita, where he was Zurich Commercial Team manager. As Property Service Delivery Manager he now oversees the service aspects of new loss and reporting procedures for all clients, monitoring compliance and adherence of adjusters to agreed service levels, ensuring that all service delivery activity is in accordance with client specific requirements.
Sam Hooper
Sam joined QuestGates in 2011, having started his adjusting career in November 1999, with Capita McLarens. Sam has good all round abilities, but has developed a reputation for HNW and Property Investor work, where good broker communication and service is paramount. Sam has also experienced a number of catastrophe/surge situations, such as Cockermouth, the 2007 floods and the 2010/2011 burst pipe event.

Fergus Johnstone
ACII, FCILA
Fergus has 30 years loss adjusting experience both in Northern Ireland and mainland UK. He has very wide experience of Property claims, including complex and major losses. During his 11 years in Northern Ireland, Fergus specialised in handling major terrorist explosion incidents. He also has a background of managing and troubleshooting on a number of high profile client accounts.
Paul Johnson
ACA, ACILA, ACII, MBCI
Paul is a consultant to QuestGates and has over 15 years professional experience gained working with chartered loss adjusters, forensic accountants and a major global insurer. In addition to specialist knowledge of business continuity, Paul has extensive experience of complex and major loss claims including business interruption, product liability and advance loss of profits across a wide range of industry sectors.
William McClurg
Dip CII
William is responsible for the management of our Northern based adjuster field force and has a number of management/compliance duties at our property focal point in Bolton. William started his insurance career in broking before moving into adjusting in 1999. Initially part of a regional adjusting team William eventually took over responsibility for management of the team before joining QuestGates in 2011. William has a solid technical and service delivery background and a passion for delivering exceptional service performance.
Stefan Kritz
BA (Hons), ACII, ACILA
Stefan has been in the insurance industry since 1984 and has worked as a loss adjuster since 1989. He has experience in Commercial, Domestic and High Net Worth Property claims and joined QuestGates in 2010.

Hugh has over 25 years in adjusting, with wide practical experience of commercial and household property losses, including extensive Major Loss team leader involvement. Hugh specialises in complex buildings issues.

Nigel O’Keef

Nigel has over 20 years adjusting experience gained with McLarens Toplis and Cunningham Lindsey. He is a dual qualified adjuster/surveyor who joined QuestGates in December 2010.
Jim Ogilvie
FCII, FCILA, FUEDI-ELAE
James completed a law degree at Glasgow University in 1980 and joined Norwich Union. After five years he entered loss adjusting with McLarens and subsequently worked for both RBS and Cunningham Lindsey. He has wide experience of both domestic and commercial losses including the Lockerbie disaster and the more recent major flooding in Hull. James joined QuestGates in 2011.

Graham Palfreyman
BA (Hons) ACIS
With 20 years adjusting experience, Graham has wide practical knowledge of commercial and personal lines property claims. He was a pivotal member of our Carlisle Response Team, handling the majority of the larger and more complex household claims arising from this incident. Graham has developed excellent relationships with our instructing principals with a number of them specifically requesting his involvement on difficult/high value claims.
Heather Parkinson
BEng FCA FCILA
A consultant to QuestGates, Heather is a dual qualified chartered accountant and chartered loss adjuster specialising in major and/or complex business interruption and credit losses and other losses with a financial dimension.
Tony Ryan
With over 20 years experience of the insurance industry, including brokers, insurers and loss adjusters, Tony joined QuestGates in 2003 from McLarens Toplis/Capita, where he had been account manager. Initially responsible for managing and developing new accounts, as Quality Assurance Manager he now oversees the technical accuracy of reporting procedures, while also continuing to manage some insurer clients.
Kevin Terry
MCIOB, MASI, MBEng, MaPS, MRICS,ACILA
Kevin has over 20 years loss adjusting experience and is qualified in multi-disciplines, including Building Surveying and Engineering, as well as being a Chartered Loss Adjuster. Kevin’s career also includes major loss team involvement and secondment abroad as part of a catastrophe response team. Kevin is also responsible for our subsidence and Project Management disciplines.
Paul Thomas
ACII, FCILA
Paul has a loss adjuster career spanning over 25 years, and was previously Complex & Major Loss Director for Capita Insurance Services. He has very wide experience of all aspects of property and business interruption claims and has handled many high profile UK losses.
