Corporate Social Responsibility

We recognise that our social, environmental and ethical conduct has an impact on our reputation. We therefore take our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) seriously and are committed to addressing and monitoring all aspects of CSR that are relevant to our business. These include good ethical behaviour, concern for employee health and safety, care for the environment and positive community involvement.

Our ethics policy has been developed to ensure that our business is always conducted in adherence with high ethical and legal principles and sets high standards of professionalism and integrity for all of our employees.

In summary:

  • All employees have the right and responsibility to ensure that QuestGates’ business is conducted with high ethical and legal principles
  • Our policy is to operate within applicable laws
  • Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated
  • As a matter of policy we do not make political donations
  • No bribes shall be given or received
  • Conflict of interest should be avoided
  • We aim to be a responsible partner within our local communities
  • Employees are encouraged to report in confidence, any suspected wrong doings

Work place risk assessments are conducted frequently and all employees are provided with a written health and safety policy.

We aim to operate environmental practices that comply with all applicable legislation and which recognise and address where possible the potentially negative impact our operations could have on the environment.

Every QuestGates office monitors energy, water and waste consumption/production and takes steps to minimise this for example, we encourage use of the ‘each one counts’ scheme, which is as online charity recycling programme. The scheme enables the recycling of inkjet cartridges and mobile phones, resulting in a donation being made to our chosen charity, the Prince’s Trust. The outcome of the scheme is that QuestGates recycled over 70% of our cartridges in 2010 and we have an objective to increase this to 90% (to include remotely located home based adjusters) in 2011.

We strive to reduce our CO2 emissions by initiatives such as reducing the annual mileage travelled by our employees. This is achieved by reducing the number of internal meetings held which have been replaced by tele/video conferencing and by promoting the use of public transport where meetings cannot be avoided.

We are committed to making sure that our CSR activities really make a difference. In 2009 we joined the Prince’s Trust Insurance Leadership Group (ILG). This is a unique forum for leaders of the insurance industry. Since launching in 2009, the ILG have collectively raised over £5,000,000 to support the Trust’s work. During 2010, as a result of our fantastic staff, we raised funds for the Trust by:

  • Dress down days
  • Charity auction
  • Office cake sale
  • Client donations at QuestGates’ activity day
  • Our ILG subscription

Furthermore, two members of our staff teamed up to enter the 2011 ILG Himalayan Action Challenge raising over £12,000 for the Prince’s Trust.
