QuestGates, the UK’s largest owner-managed loss adjusting and claims solutions group, has updated its industry-leading advice on how to efficiently progress a motor insurance claim.
Philip Swift, Technical Director – Motor at QuestGates said, “The question we get asked most is: What can I do to speed up my claim? We always point them to our Quick Claim Checklist, which succinctly details exactly what information will likely be required, why it is needed, and where to find it. The guidance was first created in 2023, in response to the Financial Conduct Authority’s call for faster and fairer claims handling. Three years on, it has now been updated with new top tips.”
The form starts with the key question: Was the vehicle fitted with a tracking device? If so, it prompts the claimant to give consent for the loss adjuster to speak directly to both the tracking company and the police about the case.
Then come the three main sections: 1) About You, requesting the claimant’s driving licence and verification of residence; 2) About the Vehicle, requesting the V5C logbook, purchase receipt, service documents, and keys; and 3) About the Event, regarding witness details and police report consent mandates.
Swift continued, “Some motor theft and total loss claims take much longer to resolve than they should, and most of the hold-ups are not caused by insurers. They are caused by missing documents, slow police disclosure, unclear information, or simple administrative gaps. Our Quick Claim Checklist can shave days, sometimes weeks, off resolution timeframes.”
