60 Seconds with Wayne Kilpatrick
How long have you worked at QuestGates and what attracted you to join the business?
I worked for one of the larger multi-national loss adjusting firms and was disappointed with how they operated with more attention on process than customer care, together with the general politics involved in working for a large organisation. I wanted to join a dedicated agriculture and forestry team which is where I pride myself on adding value and, having worked with Frank McGaffney (Head of Agri & Forestry) knew we had similar values and jumped at the chance to join.
What does your job involve on a day-to-day basis?
Handling farm, estate and forestry property and BI claims, which requires attending site visits and liaising with Insured parties, Insurers and various stakeholders in the claim.
What is the most unusual claim you have ever dealt with?
Dealing with livestock claims can lead to some interesting stories about how they have met their demise, some in fairly gruesome fashion! so not to put anyone off their breakfast, lunch etc I will avoid those stories and mention a fire claim that took place in the private quarters of a castle and before attending I had to google how to address a duke and duchess before meeting them and then had the opportunity of seeing parts of the castle that no one member of the public would see.
What do you like most about working at QuestGates?
Having the opportunity to get out of the office and getting to seeing some unique properties and landscapes from a personal point of view, there is also a sense of satisfaction in knowing you have done a good job by the Insured and the Insurers.
How do you relax outside of work?
Watching my daughter play football (now that my football days are over
